The 1957-58 Eldorado Brougham

One of Harley Earl's many great creations, the Eldorado Brougham is perhaps the most flamboyant post-war Cadillac built. Based on the Orleans concept car of the 1953 Motorama, the Eldorado Brougham set many trends for late 50's styling. And as far as features are concerned, this chariot ate everybody's lunch. Here is a list of what every EB came with:

* Power windows and ventipanes.
* Power locks.
* Power seats with dual memory settings.
* Power trunk (opens, closes, and locks automatically).
* Power steering.
* Power brakes.
* Air ride suspension.
* Mouton, Karakul, or lambskin carpeting.
* Electric clock.
* AM/FM signal seeking radio with power antenna.
(one step above the "wonderbar" radios of GM issue)
* Autronic-Eye headlight dimmer. (AKA Twilight Sentinel)
* E-Z-Eye tinted glass.
* Translucent sun visors.
* Dual zone heating and a/c.
* Cruise control.

The best feature though, is when you open the glove box, or center armrest in the rear seat. You would see the following items:

* Four silver magnetized drink tumblers. (For juice and soda... Right?)
* Cigarette and facial tissue dispensers.
* Lipstick and cologne.
* Ladies compact with powder puff.
* Mirror and matching leather notebook.
* Comb and mirror.
* Aperge atomizer with Extrait de Lanvin perfume.

Every EB features a stainless steel roof and "suicide" doors. The styling of the car is so sporty though, that the rear doors are barely noticed. The EB was also the first car to feature quad headlamps. A feature that beacame standard on most cars on and after 1958.
