Policy on Golf Courses

The Council proposes the following basis for rules change to the St. Johns Water Management District:
- (1) All new Golf courses will be required to use native drought-resistant species for greens and fairways, with watering permitted only for greens.
- (2) Existing courses having more than 9 holes will meet the conditions of (1) within 3 years.
- (3) Herbicides damaging to native vegetation will not be used on golf courses.
- (4) The conditions of (1) may be met by planting of native species, or by allowing native species intrusion into existing fairways and the rough as a natural process.
